NEIRO seeking applicants for Open Call Artist Residency

Description
NEIRO Association for Expanding Arts produces and supports exceptional projects of Czech and international artists. Their aim is to present music and art in the international context and in collaboration with influential artists and theoreticians. Through this dialogue, they want to inspire and encourage creative solutions to the situations in which our culture and society currently stand. Their organization supports and develops collaborations primarily between the artists from the Czech Republic, Europe and Japan. They organize events in the Czech Republic, present international artists in the Czech Republic and Czech artists abroad. They bring a new view on image and music & sound through lectures, symposiums, presentations, concerts, exhibitions, performances and a festival.

The residency’s structure is open in order to cater to individuality and spontaneity. They provide a safe space where all art forms, intellectual and creative pursuits can be accepted and nurtured. Neiro hosts multidisciplinary residencies. They accept applicants from all creative fields and career stages.

The residency space is located in a unique environment, which encourages artists to draw inspiration and take advantage of the surroundings it provides. Residents will be able to use the NEIRO residential and studio space to work on their projects. An important aspect of the residence will be an introduction of the resident to the Czech art scene in the form of meetings with local artists and their work. The production team will provide necessary support to organize a public performance, screening, exhibition, presentation, etc.

Outcome
The residency shall culminate in a public output according to the project of a particular artist (exhibition, performance, public screening, public space interventions, music, theater or dance productions, public reading, etc.). Members of the realization team will provide the residents with production assistance in the implementation of their projects, and help them establish contacts with Czech artists and relevant institutions.

Studio Information
The studio is equipped to provide basic tools for video installation and production, sound recording and construction work. The equipment list offers two digital cameras with a set of lenses, simple lights and stands, c-stand, mics, mic stands, score stands, sound interface, sound recording device, projectors, overhead projectors, tv monitors, dvd players, speakers, various cables, power tools, etc.

Accommodation Information
The studio has an adjacent one bedroom apartment (45m²) with a kitchen connected to a dining area, bedroom and a private bathroom. (The bedroom is equipped with a piano, small library, two futon beds on tatami flooring, it is possible to add an inflatable mattress or a third futon).

The studio section has 40m², concrete floor and two large windows facing the courtyard. The space is quiet and acoustically treated with heavy velvet curtains that can be either moved and removed. It is possible to work in the courtyard during warm summer months.

Location
The NEIRO studio and residency space is situated in Prague, The Czech Republic in the peaceful neighborhood of Vršovice, just a short walk from Vršovické náměstí. A calm place hidden in one of the courtyards inspires and encourages music, visual, or literal creation. This inspiring artistic neighborhood has begun to transform into a base for many Prague based creators, not only due to its charm, but also accessibility.

Expenses paid by organisation: accommodation, studio (only in case of stipend)
Expenses paid by artist: travel, food, transport at the end of your stay
